Dan Robbins graduated from the College of William and Mary in 1977 with a B.A. in Early America, a degree drawing on several disciplines providing an accurate overview of America prior to 1865. He studied with curators from Colonial Williamsburg learning the finer points of furniture, art, landscape design, archaeology and architecture.
Mr. Robbins’ unique blend of education, hands-on construction experience and owner of multiple historic properties allows him to renovate old buildings with historic accuracy as well as design and build new homes with historic detailing. He also offers consulting with clients on a fee basis.
We are pleased to announce that Dan’s son, William Agee Robbins, joined the family business full time in 2017. Involved since a young child, his father would occasionally bring William to job sites in his car seat and set him carefully in the corner so he could watch the construction activities. When old enough, William helped during breaks from school developing his carpentry and millwork skills and learning about the finer points of architecture and homebuilding. A 2013 graduate of Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, William held several logistics positions with national corporations before choosing to come back to J.D. Robbins Builder. William brings new energy with a wide variety of skill sets and plans to steer the business into its second generation of opportunities.
